Now there’s a fun and easy way to garden without ever stepping outside and you can do it year round. Seems crazy doesn’t it? But it’s true. It’s called hydroponic gardening; and it truly is fun and easy.
Hydroponics kits are available for beginners as well as professionals. Actual light from the sun or artificial light can be coupled with automated temperature control and watering so that all you really have to do is stand back and supervise. Sounds too good to be true. They do however need a source of humidity so if you plant them somewhere that is not humid you will need to set up a humidifier just for the plants. Temperature needs to be between 75 and 70° F and maintained there. PH levels need to be between six and five; this is achieved without the use of actual soil. And lighting if not lit by the sun can be simply executed with the use of sodium bulbs. They come in different varieties specifically for different stages of plant growth. Fluorescent glow lights and mercury vapor lights are another couple of options for your hydroponic garden’s lighting concerns.
The aforementioned need for humidity can be taken too far. Should this happen you will have a mold problem on your hands, and who needs that? So it’s essential that you have just the right amount of humidity for your garden. As far as lighting is concerned even if you are utilizing the sodium bulbs or other grow lights, utilize the sun whenever possible particularly in the summer months. Be sure as well, to buy them from a reputable source making sure that they are usable in humid conditions without danger.
The best part of all; no messy soil, no chemicals to affect your vegetables taste or your health, and once you get the hang of it… It’s fun and easy.
