Jef Raskin was a man born in New York City who received degrees in Mathematics in 1964. And a degree of Philosophy in 1965 at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He was able to earn his master’s degree in computer science at Pennsylvania State University way back 1967. He was able to make his first program which was included in his master’s thesis and this program was known to be a music program. He then later enrolled himself in a graduate music program at the University of California in San Diego. However, he chooses to stop in order to teach art, photography and computer science in the same place. He became an assistant professor in the said school from 1970 up to 1974. With his knowledge in computers, he was then able to write and published computer publications like the Dr. Dobb’s Journal. Raskin continue his journey until he was able to first meet the Apple Computer’s named Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak which follows the debut of their Apple II personal computer at the First West Coast Computer Faire. Steve Jobs as one of the owners hired Jef Raskin into his firm. In January 1978, Raskin joined the Apple as Manager of Publications, and he was the company’s 31st employee. For a couple of times, he continued working as a Director of Publications and New Product Reviews. He later hired his former student named Bill Atkinson from UCSD to work at Apple just like him and began their project in Macintosh around 1979. He was also able to recruit Andy Hertzfeld and Brunell Smith from the Apple services Department, which was also located in the same building as the Publications Department. . A number of basic applications were built into the machine, selectable by pressing function keys. The machine also included logic that would understand user intentions and switch programs on the fly.
